Walk-A-Thon Donations Tallied and Winners Announced!

The weather outside might have been bitterly cold, but inside the gymnasium of the North Syracuse Early Education Program at Main Street Preschool, the kids were working hard for a great cause.  On Friday March 3, 2017, each classroom came down for our annual Get Active Walk-A-Thon to raise money for the school and to remind all of us about the importance of daily physical activity.  The children and staff lapped the gym to such songs as “The Ants Go Marching,” “I Like to Move It, Move It,” and “The Walking Song.”  They cycled through three activity stations: Jumping Bean, Animal Yoga, and Ball Pass.  As they departed the gym, each child received an award for a job well-done!  Each child also took home a certificate for a free kid’s meal at Texas Roadhouse and a brochure listing a myriad of things to do/places to go encouraging them to continue to be active throughout the year.

After deducting some minimal expenses, we are pleased to announce that the Get Active Walk-A-Thon raised $2,317.70!

The top 3 classrooms with the greatest percentage of donations are
Room 128 AM
Room 105 AM
Room 104 Full-day
Those classrooms have each won a frozen yogurt party!

All students that brought in donations of $40 or more were entered into a drawing for a chance to win a plasma car(wiggle scooter) and the lucky winner is Marliana Z.

Thank you to all our walkers, volunteers, school staff, donors, and sponsors for coming together to make this event possible!

Friends of NSEEP would specifically like to thank Summit Federal Credit Union, Sam’s Club, Sun Chevrolet (Cicero), and Texas Roadhouse for their donations to this event!

Thank you to our volunteers working the day of the event: Jane, Catherine, Jessica Kawecki, and Regina Chiarizia
